A bastion of DIY ethics located in Metro Detroit’s traditionally Polish community, Hamtramck, the non-profit Sanctuary took over the old Paychecks Lounge space in 2018, and hasn’t looked back. Known mostly for rowdy hardcore and punk shows, the Sanctuary actually hosts a well-rounded slate of concerts, art installations, film screenings, and other community events.
